Featuring a traditional UnProgram, the day will be comprised of a presentation by Mary Anne Ehlert with Protected Tomorrows, Rory Quinn with ARDC,  and three breakout sessions led by teams of moderators. Continental Breakfast and Lunch will be provided and a cocktail hour will be held at the end of the day.  While breakout sessions may be moderated by IL NAELA members, the moderators will not present on the subject topics; rather, they will help facilitate discussion among the group.

Bringing you Protected Tomorrows: Your Journey through an 8-Step Life Care Planning Program

Mary Anne Ehlert - Protected Tomorrows

As family members of a person with a disability, we so often tend to view life in light of the challenges presented to us. Bringing You Protected Tomorrows looks at our lives in a whole new light, as Mary Anne Ehlert provides a passionate glimpse of her life with her sister, Marcia. The presentation will be uplifting and educational, as well as provide a good basic understanding of some important facts. Participants will develop the foundation for their family’s own personal Eight Step Future Care Plan. Some topics of discussion include: how to create a map of the future; how to prepare legally and financially; how to incorporate and maximize government benefits; how to prepare for transition; how to build the Dream Team and how to communicate your Future Care Plan to the whole family.



Mary Anne Ehlert, CFP®, is a mother, sister and a daughter to her loved ones with disabilities. She is highly regarded as a specialist in working with families of individuals with disabilities and the elderly and speaks at conferences, on radio shows, hosts webinars, and runs virtual training for parents on future planning.

Mary Anne’s journey began in senior management positions within the banking industry. For over 20 years she was a leader in the corporate world, leaving in 1990 to create Protected Tomorrows, a business driven to assist individuals and families develop life plans and financial strategies, helping them find hope and peace of mind.

As CEO and Founder of Protected Tomorrows, Mary Anne has served on the Board of Directors of Special Olympics Illinois, Gateway to Learning School for Special Needs, Illinois

St. Coletta, as well as Chair of Clearbrook Board of Directors and Vice-Chair for the National Disability Institute in Washington, DC. She initiated the Protected Tomorrows Scholarship Fund at Maine West High School, which provides students access to beyond high school educational programs. She currently serves on the Boards of Special Olympics Illinois Foundation, Integrative Touch, the Cornelia de Lange Syndrome (CdLS) National Foundation, and the Advisory Board of Tails for Life.


Rory Quinn - ARDC


Rory P. Quinn is Litigation Counsel at the Illinois Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission of the Supreme Court of Illinois (ARDC), where he investigates and prosecutes allegations of lawyer misconduct. He received his undergraduate degree from Western Illinois University and his law degree from Chicago-Kent College of Law. Prior to joining the ARDC, Rory worked as an associate for Swanson Martin & Bell in Chicago and as a Cook County Assistant State’s Attorney.

We are happy to announce that we are bringing back the Ron Runkle Award, to recognize one member for their outstanding contributions to our listserve.
